2018-08-03 Day 5 - A Nice Trip to Happy Valley - Goose Bay

Had a good sleep last night, and a good road day today. Broken cloud, but mostly sunny. It was foggy as heck when I left the hotel, but I went back into town to get gas, breakfast, and wash the worst of the mud off of the car. By the time I hit the road, seeing was good, and it just got better as the day went on.

Speaking of seeing - my prescription sunglasses are driving me crazy! I just spent a spent a few minutes getting both the sunglasses and regular glasses really clean - so I could see really well - and then held the sunglasses up to the light. Yikes - covered with small scratches -the left lense even worse than the right. I must have used a dirty cloth - and dirty with something that made a ton of little scratches. Darn - will need to buy a new pair. I have my old prescription with me - so when I really need them - I still have sunglasses that are close to the right prescription.

This is the first big reservoir you come across. I say the name in the video - but cannot spell it, and am unable to find it on Google Maps or Google Earth. Ah Ha - fount it - it is the Ossokmanuan
Reservoir. Have a look  at this Labrador Map I found for lots of cool detail

This is where the 500 crosses the Churchill River

This was a cool valley with hills / small mountains all around it

So - the hotel I picked is really nice - The Royal Inn & Suites. More expensive than I would have preferred - but at least you get what you are paying for! If all goes according to plan - the two nights here will be my last hotel nights. Then - back into the tent. Speaking of which - the folks here did not mind - so the tent spent the afternoon setup on the back lawn - wow - good think I did that - I knew it was wet and it was bugging me. All nice and dry and packed away now!

The bad news - the government place to get a fishing license closed at 4PM - so I missed it by 10 minutes! That means - no fishing until Tuesday - because everything is shutdown for the long weekend. The good news - tons of stuff to see around here - so I am looking forward to a tourist day tomorrow. I am glad I got here a day early and will get to see the area!

That's it for today, Peace and Love,

Sandy
